Hiero is a free bitmap font creator - used to created fonts for Cocos2d. It's got a few bugs though - here's how to fix the two most common:
1) Fonts display wrongly - the bitmap is wrong, so you get bits of fonts. Solution: flip the font.png vertically in preview and resave.
2) Artifacts around fonts - like a shadow or extra stray lines or pixels. Solution: set the padding to 1 all round, and set the X and Y values to -2. No idea why this fixes it but it does. I'll put putting together an update to Doodle Rocket Ship, as it's fonts have this problem.
